I needed to take care of some business down south yesterday. I have been wanting to visit my friend Kathy at her shop Colby Cottage in Eugene since she opened in September, yesterday was the day!
I have been a long time admirer of Kathy. She has a work ethic that is unlike any I have ever known. She gets things done, priced and displayed while some of us are still trying to figure out what we are going to work on next. She always has a kind word and smile. I hope if you are in Eugene you will go find her and her wonderful shop on River Road.
Not only will you find great items to buy. But you will also have adorable in store customer service.
I didn’t realize until a few years ago that I sometimes laugh louder than most people. That could be because while I have learned to use my inside voice, I still haven’t mastered my inside laugh. Or perhaps I think some things are so funny you can’t help yourself… Any way, right before my niece left to go back to Michigan after Christmas, we all ended up at Borders Bookstore with the kids.
I’m off looking at magazines and I hear the kids laughing,
Dave (The Saint) is with the kids, did they find a funny book?
I don’t think a book can be this funny?
Sam, what are you doing to make her laugh like this?
He is also not using his inside laugh…
Guess what they have for sale at Border’s?
I’m thinking they may want to rethink their merchandise if they don’t want some serious laughing going on!
I am so glad for the new year, the chance to get going again! I had so much fun doing the Clark County Show. I was delighted to be invited to stay with the BH Boys or Barn Boys as Dave calls them.
Here is the picture on their blog banner, which is a good indicator of the beauty they create. I’m still not sure which of them took the photo’s, but none the less they are both incredibly talented. Not just talented but smart too!
I’m sure you have heard of Google Reader. I didn’t know exactly how it worked and why I would want too. Jermonne showed me how it worked, how much faster it was to read the blogs you keep up with, none of the clicking back and forth, waiting for the loading and downloading, not really knowing if you have read the most recent post or not, amazingly cool.
Much like the speed reading class I once took, only better!! You will want to try it.
As a side note have you seen this recent Sommerset copy?
The most talented Robin Laws, aka Bird Tweets, has a beautiful article and photos taken at a Barn House Event. This is one of her pictures that wasn’t in the article, but on her blog. I totally love her photography she always seems to catch the spirit as well as the image of her subjects.
Not only do I think Google Reader is a wonderful time saver. I would like to once again tell you that I love doing my postings in
a free download. This makes it soooo much simpler and faster than Blogger. The pictures go where you put them without messing with HTML and you can write the post off line and then post it when you have internet access. I had been telling Lisa for months she needed to switch and when she finally did she had to call and tell me how much easier it was!
It was an especially fun time this weekend, because Miss Cindy
was also staying at BH, helping me at the show and generally just sprinkling inspiration in all directions.
Do you remember Robin’s article this summer
You will want to join me
Saturday, January 30th at the Barn in Oregon City
I will be there to see what kind of magic the Queen has conjured up for her first show of the new year.
It was great fun being with The Queen and the BH Boys, but I also had a wonderful time visiting with my customers, fellow bloggers and other vendors all weekend.
I enjoy the shopping, gathering the merchandise. I tolerate getting things ready for sale, I grit my teeth while Dave loads it, delivers it and helps me get it set up. But the best part, the reason I love this business is the interaction with all of you. Thank you so much for your continued support and for your friendship
you are the best of the best!
JOY!

My New Year’s resolution is to spend more time doing that.
My word, for the year is ENJOY.
Here is the definition I found
Enjoy
I recently read Luluz, post about her Christmas Day.
She ended the post with
P.S. these children are not my biological grand children, nor am I really related to their moms, but love is such a wide open field and I am so proud of their moms I would be ecstatic if they all sprung from my family tree.
If you have read this blog before, I am sure you know I love my family and my extended family with a passion beyond measure.
I treasure my friends and their families as well. I love reading about your adventures and the stories you share about those you care about, your friends, your babies all the ones you hold dear.
One day this week I got a letter from the sister of a special customer I met at Expo a couple of years ago. She came to my Open House a few weeks ago with her mother and sisters. Sheila and I knew as soon as we saw her, she was very sick. The letter was to let me know she passed away just a week after she was here.
The next day I got a phone call from a friend, letting me know that a mutual friend had suddenly died. Her husband came home to find her unconscious, and was unable to revive her. I was with her and her husband on their first date. Her children are the same age as mine. I guess all this to say, we never know.
I’m pretty sure whenever I have a choice I am going to choose to
