More Christmas Magic

What a coincidence, Friday was the first day of the Christmas Show at Monticello and also the same as my Christmas Open House!Copy of IMG_4969

BARN HOUSE * MADISON PARK * QUEEN of TARTE * DUCHESS * SPARROW * BELLA *
ANNIE, FANNIE & ABIGAIL * JEFF & JULIE's PRIMITIVES * ALL MY FAVORITE THINGS * VINTAGE TRIFLES * MOLLY MO's *MANOR BOURNE * KINDRED ROSES * AUNTIE JOY * COLBY COTTAGE * MY SHABBY ROSES * WHERE SISTERS GATHER*

That is the list of guest vendors, did you read my name? I did not want to miss having fun with all these great people! And this show goes for the whole month, how could I not participate??

Let’s just say, it was a push and I mean a BIG push ( I had to call in the big guns elves) for a little lot of assistance.

While I was setting up my spot at Monticello, Sam took these pictures. I think it is interesting what he chose, it was obviously things that appealed to an 8 year old. I told him not to chop off any heads, as he was taking off with my camera. He turned around and gave me the strangest look, I had to explain what that meant…

Who doesn’t love Frosty.

And a darling reindeer named BELLA

IMG_5142

Opps, looks like he does have a thing for chopped off heads.

IMG_5144He found Judy fluffing up her space, she told him, she has a son named Sam. He told her he wanted to change his name to Jeff Gordon…

That is pretty strange, but what is also strange, Judy had no idea who Jeff Gordon is…

IMG_5143

And of course he would love a pair of these.IMG_5150Well look at this a whole case of toys.

IMG_5147And what 8 year old wouldn’t be interested in Santa. IMG_5146 I’ll be going back soon to restock my booth and take my own pictures!

Sorry if you weren’t able to make my

Christmas Open House

I’m truly

that I have such amazing family, friends, and loyal customers. I am not only joyful but also thankful for all the elves in my life.

I love nothing more than to help those I care about, with whatever project that might be bogging them down. I know how much it means to me when someone lends a hand. When the clock is ticking and there is more that needs done than hours to do them, nothing means I love you like being there to help.

My friend Pam brought these beautiful pink roses.

Have I Mentioned the Open House?

I sure hope your planning to come for the Open House Friday Night December 4th or Saturday December 5th. christmas open house 2009 - Page 001-1I am still busy trying to get all the pieces in place.

I luckily have had a little help from

Elf Emily!

Not hard to believe I had an extra mantle, but more unlikely I would be able to find it and… it would actually fit.

Good thing I took the picture of this, I notice the glass dome is just a little askew…

Help! I’m Drowning

That’s in a sea of good intentions… I’ve kept this, collected that and now it’s fairly evident I will not be needing the hundreds of wooden spools I have saved.  I won’t have time to use even a small percentage of the vintage lace and fabric I have held onto for all those projects I will get to, someday…xmas decorating 013

Why would I need dozens of packages of sewing needles???

How many paperclips will I ever be able to use??  Thankfully I have 2 boxes of random wire… If there is ever a shortage of straight pins, come on by, I have enough to supply the nation.

xmas decorating 014 It goes without saying buttons are one thing you could never have enough of.. And obviously they should be sorted and arranged in some kind of interesting order.

xmas decorating 021Thankfully I had enough broken strands of pearls to fill these bottles.

Let’s not talk about sheet music, old books and anything else I, or possibly even someone I know, might someday need.

It’s all fun and games until time to get the shop in order for the Christmas Show!  Thankfully I have my head above water now and I’m on my way.

xmas decorating 024

Lucky for me Sam is a big help decorating… I told him to be sure and get some ornaments on the inside of the tree, not just on the outside.  Seems he was actually listening.  He took it upon himself to hang the  ornament on the wall, when I said not to put it on the tree. I need to make a note to myself to turn it around.

It just doesn’t look right “yoj”…

This is what was behind the coat rack, that I never intended to move, so I left it on the wall the last time I painted…

As I said before, “Help, I’m drowning!”

Or is the saying,

“The road to Hell, is paved with good intentions?

Only 14 days, but who’s panicked??

Christmas in Historic Silverton

Are you wondering where the heck I’ve been?  What the heck I have been doing? Well I have been here, hunkered down at the home place working my little elf hands to the bone…  Slaving over a hot soldering iron, and all the other many fun activities, we elves do to make merry.

bazaar 007 Sometimes this time of year I suffer from whiplash.  It is caused from the fact, that last Friday was Halloween and the next day I am furiously behind getting ready for Christmas.

bazaar 001

Christmas in Historic Silverton, is always the first weekend in November (is it possible that it is here already?) This is the first time I have chosen to take my treasures away from my shop and join forces downtown. I will be at the

The Making of a Saint

This past weekend while I was at Expo, I was visiting with my friend Carrie. She was asking about Dave the Driver, I told her he was at the hospital having some metal taken out of his eye. (he is fine now) after I told her about our last trip in Dumbo, she said his name should be

Saint Dave.

th_trainCircus

It is a lot more fun to pick on him than to elevate him,

but as today is his birthday and all…

HB-00265-D

This is how that fateful day played out…

We left town a few hours later than preferred but, we still had a few things to pack in the trailer and I did a bit of shopping on the way, so it was a late start. (What’s new?)

For once I was sitting up front instead of lounging on the bed in the back.

(Just in case you are new to this blog, Dave is my husband, Dumbo is the rv and the trailer behind is 20 feet.molly mos 038

We were going down the freeway and I noticed that we were going rather fast, so I ever so sweetly mentioned, “seems like you a going a little fast.” To which Dave so sweetly answered, “I’m just keeping up with the traffic.”

I didn’t say that we were about 45 feet long and over 16,000 pounds and it was dark and raining…

About that time there was a big loud pop and I said,

“something happened!!”

I could be accused of stating the obvious…

Dave said,

“we’ve had a blowout.”

You know I was thinking, maybe you shouldn’t have been going so fast… I kept that to myself though.

It seemed like a 100 miles before we could pull off, but it wasn’t quite that far.

And this is where the story really gets good.

th_cutequote1

When Dave gets out to check the damage, it seems that the inside tire of Dumbo’s right rear tires, not only was flat, but also the tread had completely come off and made a BIG HOLE in the

black water tank

aka the septic tank…

I’m sure you can just picture the fallout (excuse the pun) and I’m also sure that you’re glad you weren’t the car behind us…

Now is when I’m so very glad,

“I don’t know a thing about changing tires…”

especially when the spare is located underneath the rv, right next to the dreaded

black water tank.

I turned the outside light on and pulled the shade, pretending I had no part in this roadside misadventure. Wondering when the police would show up and arrest us both for??

Littering??

Illegal dumping of toxic waste???

Who knows what kind of laws were broken?

I’m busy planning my defense,

you know I’m telling who ever will listen that I told him he was going too fast!

Evidently taking the inside tire off of a dual wheel is quite a challenge, in the dark and even less fun with the cold rain whipping. One must get under the rv and do some kind of magic to get the tire off, and then a different magic trick to put the yucky spare in it’s place.

Only once did I open the door to ask,

“how much longer?”

And that is why some may think Dave should be canonized. pullman 014
